The Indian actress and classical dancer Madhyama Segal has attracted interest for her portrayal in Netflix’s Class (2023), the Indian adaptation of the Spanish series Elite. She was born in Delhi in 1994 into a distinguished family steeped in Indian art and culture. Renowned in Indian cinema and theatre, her great-grandmother is the legendary Zohra Segal, who most famously starred in films such Veer-Zaara and The Mistress of Spices. Madhyama made her acting debut in class, and her Saba performance has been much praised. Her promise as an actress is shown by her capacity to give the character—who encounters discrimination and inner conflict—depth. Though mostly a thriller, the show also offers viewers relevance and interest since it is a social commentary on the injustices ingrained in Indian society.
